A Modern Witch: Empowerment, Feminism and Rituals

I go into this deeper in the history of witches but for now i’m focused on women but of course there are many men who practice magic and have done so for centuries and this is not meant to be disrespectful to them. Witches are often depicted as villains in fairy tales, or exercisers of the satanic occult in scary movies. These portrayals tend to emphasise dark and malevolent themes, creating a stereotype that has endured through generations and ignited fear and suspicion towards women who practice witchcraft.

However, for practitioners of modern witchcraft, the reality is much more nuanced and profound, revealing a rich tapestry of beliefs and practices that diverge significantly from sensationalised portrayals. For many, witchcraft serves as a path to self-discovery, spiritual growth, and empowerment, acting as a catalyst for personal femininity, transformation and greater self-awareness.
